I always use NIMH's on it even though I have a couple Sony AC adapters, just so I can always pick up the radio and carry it with me to another room. It's wise to always have another set of 4 AA's charged and ready to go, however. So you need 8 not 4. The synch detector howls on weak signals whether you use the AC adapter or not ; on the other hand it's a cheap radio. You do get better reception with the ground that the AC adapter gives, but that's not the batteries' fault ; if some weak SW situation is what you're dealing with. But then you could use a more expensive radio too. -- Ron Hardin On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. we can tell your a jerk If as you say, it is a cheap radio, what exactly would you suggest people buy for use as a small portable, easy to use, sensitive radio that has sync lock. We can all have drakes and the likes, but i find those rather cumbersome to use as a pocket portable. rgm |
