Default use computer speakers?

Is it generally a good idea to use a set of computer speakers on a tabletop
SWR?

I use some 2.1 computer speakers with my R8B. Its great audio, along
with the speakers, makes listening to any SW/AM broadcast programs a
real joy.

How so? I have mine mounted at ear level on either side of my
computer display and the sound is in the middle of my head, like with
hearphones.

The radio output is ~ 8 ohms the same as the impedance of the average
speaker. Best bet is put them in series. The situation adds well if you
happen to have two 4 ohm speakers in series but most bookshelf are 8
ohms. One loudspeaker does the job anyway.

I used before and I chanced because they are not well shielded and produced
interference sound during transmitting on VHF. Now I use a telephone
amplifier system bought on a flea market. I use this with my Teletron TE
704 C receiver, it has only a control speaker.

Regards,

Ralf

These are actives. They run off the headphone jack or ''Line Out''.
