I 've found that most RS stores in the Baltimore metro
area are poorly staffed, with people who
have no knowledge of rven rudimentary electronics. Last trip to the
nearest one, I had to wait what seemed forever while the one
sales "associate" spoke with his girlfriend and when I called the
regional office I was told that the regional manager didn't "have the
time tospeak to any customers". Finally I called Texas direct and was
told that they have very littlecontrol of anything but a criminal
matter involving their regional managers. They need to close ALL their
strore and reorganise so that everyone is trained proerly and leave the
cell phones and such to those who really know their product and at
least have a person available at the regional office that can help with
a real quesyion . Oh - they send me a 5 dollar certificate in the mail
for a discount on any 149 dollar cell phone.DUH

What is the difference between tv sets that are tv sets and those
monitors that look like tv sets that are parked right next to them tv
sets in the stores? Reason I ask is because I am thinkng about buying a
new Philips HDTV 30 monitor ($549.00,was $638.00 at the Wal Mart store)
with Active Control (whatever that is?) flat screen monitor.I assume the
30 means 30 inches diagonal measure of the flat screen and I assume I
can connect the cable from my DirectTV set top box (or cable tv,if I
ever go back to cable tv) and watch my favorite old, old, old tv movies on
the monitor and I assume if I connect a DVD player/recorder set top box
to the monitor, that will work ok too.I assume the HDTV means the monitor
is an HDTV ready monitor. The more I read about that stuff
www.tvpredictions.com the more confused I get.No wonder so many people
look at those HDTV sets in the stores and they walk away empty handed
and more confuesed than ever.By the way, when I buy a new tv set or
monitor,it will Definetly be a CRT tv set or monitor.

I very rarely ever have a reason to go to any of the Radio Shack stores
around here. Not often is it that I need to go to Metrocenter Mall across
Highway 80 from me. www.metromalljackson.com Unless I want to buy
something from the Sears store. There is a Radio Shack store about two
stores from the Sears store and I will look in that Radio Shack store to
see if there in anything new that might interest me.

I got a Toshiba 20" TV for $109 on closeout at Fry's. Only better deal
was some cheapo POS at Wally World. I live a couple miles from the
Sacramento Fry's, so I like to go in there and look around. Fry's has
THE BEST selection of HDTVs, including LCD TVs. They also have a lot of
LCD monitors and some computers, although their computers are rather
pricey.

I'm typing on a $300 Fry's computer right now.

They have a brand called "Great Quality" or something that is really
cheap. I'm talking about their HPs and brand name computers. I prefer
not to buy name brand computers anyway. I'd rather go to a local shop
and get a custom built clone for a great price.

That is why I bought a new Velocity Micro ProMagix tower computer (it
has a biggggg window on it,I can see everything in there) ($1,290.00)
from www.velocitymicro.com about three years ago.I dont care that
much for brand name computers that have propietary systems and cheap OEM
parts.Sort of like that time in Atlanta,Georgia in 1971 and a guy had a
1968 Jaguar car for sale,he had replaced the Jaguar engine with an
inline six cylinder Chevrolet car engine.I wound up trading my 1968 Ford
Mustang car plus $340.00 to a guy in Lawrenceville,Georgia for a 1957
Ford Thunderbird car.The exahaust system on that Thunderbird car was
shot,I had to drive with the windows rolled down and about every 100
miles, put a quart of oil in that Thundebird car.The front end needed
lined up too. There was a half circle dent in the left rear tail fin as
though a pipe had fell and dented the tail fin.

GQ. That's what I have. I upgraded the CPU to a 2.4 Prescott and
added some memory so I could run ProTools on it.

I like PC Club clones, but it's hard to beat $299 including XPSP2.
