![]() BTW Before anyone says anything I do realize that I could have prevented these excessive charges by simply not dealing with this seller. I bid $129 on a Sony ICF SW7600GR radio from a seller on Ebay. The seller charged me $41 shipping. (I priced return shipping via UPS, it is $16.29) The seller advertised shipping to Canada by Fed Ex. When asked to ship by US Post Office (because the brokerage fee is only $4.30) he failed to respond and shipped the item via UPS??. When the package arrived I was faced with an additional $33.62 brokerage fee from UPS for having collected $18.89 tax on the goods and $2.36 tax on the tax ( total $54.87 ) My total cost was $224.87 ($129+$41+$33.62+$18.89+$2.36) Had I chosen a different seller my cost could have been $168.48 ($129+$16.29+$18.89+$4.30) You live and learn. (or) A fool and his money are soon parted. |

Seems a very excessive price to me,shipping charges to Canada.Heck,I
could get that woman in England to ship a small radio to me for much, much less, (I am guessing about $20.00 or less) she has snail mailed me some trinkets to me before, and I live in Mississippi too.Good Luck to you with your radio when it gets to you. cuhulin |

The ebay fee is based on sales price, which does not include shipping.
Hence these assholes charge high shipping fees to increase the net. If there is any question about shipping cost, establish this before the purchase. In the US, USPS shipping depends on where you go. There are some retail outlets that take USPS shipments at a marked up rate. You need to be very careful with ebay. Almost always I get better deals elsewhere. I was at a local surplus shop and ran into an ebay peddler getting items to sale. Well, at least that is more legit than Radio-Mart(TM), where he gets items from Ebay and writes lies to get a higher price when reselling on ebay. I don't really "get" what it is that you are driving at. |

The truth is that I know better but I got carried away. I bid before I had read all the shipping rules. The seller does ship via US post office for troops at APO addresses so my request was not impossible. I suppose he was greedily looking at the ($41-$16.29) = $24.71 profit he could make by shipping by UPS. On top of that he just didn't give a damn if by doing so it cost me (his client) the $24.71 that he snared plus an extra ($33.62-$4.30) = $29.32 to UPS for brokerage. The seller's got a good business going with almost 41000 sales and not to many complaints so I never dreamed he would actually do what he did. We live and learn. I guess after dealing with soldiers all my life (37 years) I have a thing or two to learn about business people. This is why I go to HRO and pay a few pennies more. |

Well Yes!! If you know about them, and their prices are competitive, sure! Why not? I
also found an Ebay seller from Canada selling the radio which would allow me to avoid all the importation BS and I think I could pick it up right at his home, but I did not see that until after I had committed to buying from the first seller. As I said earlier, I simply bid in to much haste and have only myself to blame.
