Anyone having part number or replacement lamp number for the pilot lamp that lights the S-Meter (I think it's PL-100 on the schematic) could you pass it along? Apparently the Kenwood parts department does not have the part listed, so will have to get it at parts house. This was discussed on the Kenwood R-5000 Yahoo group. Some people put "grain of wheat" type bulbs, others replaced it with an LED and a resistor. (around 1k oHm). It's just a bulb force fit into a rubber grommit, almost anything will do. You can experiment with bulbs that give you the proper brightness. For example, I put a 12volt bulb I had lying around into it. It works, but is too dim on the dim setting for my taste. I don't like the S-meter on the R-5000, the pointer is too hard to read. Otherwise, I think it's a great receviver. Geoff. -- Geoffrey S.
