Here is the latest email I personally received from Frank, above:
Hey, Why do you responded to me with a separate e-mail address? Cuz you are too much of a coward? I've got plenty of good "non-crap" radios like my Kenwood R-5000 and Drake R-8A. How about that? Yes, the Superadio 2 is cheapest radio that I have. Why don't you get some real radios like those? You and cuhulin need to learn to open your mouth when you have something intelligent to say. Maybe you don't know how.... Frank Is he admitting that his SuperAdio II is crap ? |

![]() wrote in message oups.com... I think most of them, possibly with the exception of the Sony 7600GR, are very cheaply made, especially the Grundig S350 and the SR series. The CCradio is a $150 over-hyped AM/FM "DX machine" - just look at the reviews on Amazon and eham.net. The ONE radio I would recommend is the discontinued RS DX-440 (RS always seems to discontinue really good radios)... I can tell from your posts that you have absolutely no first hand experience with the SR1 or SRII. The SRIII is a different breed of cat, and has indeed suffered from abysmal quality control. I have yet to see one that is properly calibrated, and the are definately cheaply built. The SR1 and SRII, on the other hand, are virtually indestructible, and are not made with cheap plastic nor with cheap third rate components. The only two times I have ever seen a switch fail on an SRII are when the owner thereof decided to use their fist to turn on the radio.. and have never seen a switch failure on an SR1, which had a heavy metal built switch. |

Good for you Frank. :-) I am sure Brenda Ann will do a fine job on it.
I have a GE P780 that I got from Brenda a few years back and I use it every day. |

Kind of surprised you have one Steve, with the lazy susan and all, not bad. :-) I've already had a Superadio III for many years that I use by the bedside. I happened to see the Superadio II at a shop here in town that takes donated items, sells them and the uses the proceeds to purchase religious literature to send to other countries. I picked up the Superadio II for $4.00, cleaned a bit of dust off of it and it's jut like brand new. It's a very fine radio for MW use. The next day they had the Radio Shack MW loop out there and I picked that up as well. Now I'm hoping that a Superadio I in very nice condition shows up, or even another Superadio II. Whilst mainly interested in SW broadcast DX I do dabble in MW from time to time. dxAce Michigan USA |

I have read before,years and years ago,the first G.E.Superadios were/are
the best G.E.Superadios.I really did try out one of those first model G.E.Superadios (running on batteries) in the Sears store parking lot (275 foot steps from my front yard) but that radio didn't show me anything,so I didn't buy it. (whilst?) cuhulin |

Here's Franks's latest private email to me:
Did you read Brenda Ann's comments? Your just jealous cuz you don't have one !!! HA-HA-HA!!!! Frank Looks like Frank is feeling real insecure about the SuperAdio - just like the Yahoo Grundig S350 group. I am SOOOO jealous ! |

Now, why would Frank sell a radio that needs realignment (and not be
upfront about it) to unsuspecting customers ? |

Frank said that the radio works perfectly, in his initial post - well,
I guess not ! |

When did GE start using varactor tuning in the SR instead of a mechanical variable capacitor? When the SRIII came out. Crappy system, too. Almost impossible to make it track. I believe there's a DC/DC converter in there that boosts the voltage up to enough to make an adequate frequency excursion. I would think the varactor tuned circuit also had a poor 'Q' compared to the mechanical capacitor design. |
