How does this do on the SW bands? Everything I've read thus far regarding
SW antennas indicate that verticals are not a good idea . . .

Cherished...it worked like a charm..so why get rid of it?

I don't believe you can have a decent vertical whip for shortwave
without an amp, as the amp also provides an impedance match.

For SW you are better off spending the $33.50 on a UNUN and horizontal
wire antenna.

I agree, though you need to shop for a balun that works in the AM BCB
(if that is your interest) I think only Palomars go that low. [I still
have mine from the pre-Wellbrook days.]
