I don't agree with this thread. As a listener in the Third World that is hysterically pro Palestinian, it is important to get the official view of the American government, the most powerful country in the World. It is refreshing to get the official American government point of view from VOA with sound bites from George W Bush. Even the BBC to my mind is somewhat biased towards the Palestinians. So the VOA provides balance to my listening where I can learn of the atrocities and provocations the Palestinians heap upon the Israeli's. Some would say you are so full of it that your eyes are turning brown. ========================================= To be Palestinian Arab in the land usurped by European Jews is to be considered untermensch in the territory your forefathers once called home. The devastation fifty-five years of invasion, occupation and state terrorism has had on both people and land has created the conditions by which Gaza and the West Bank can today be called Hell on Earth, pockets of destitute emptiness where opportunity is extinct and any relevant future is a but a hollow fantasy. http://www.thepeoplesvoice.org/cgi-b...06/07/19/p9484 ========================================= |

It is so bad that the radio station in Australia (ABC newsradio) that mainly takes programs from overseas sources (i.e DW radio,RNW etc etc)doesnt take ANY VOA programs its main american radio program is sourced from NPR. Rant over Propaganda is the REASON VOA or any other government run station is on the air. Australia and other nations have their own brand of propaganda. It has always been this way. -- Telamon Ventura, California Telamon - True and the simple fact is : Governmental International Shortwave Broadcasting 'is' all about Getting-Your-Message-Out 'to' The World [.] http://www.shortwave.be/gov.html Actually at times it seem (to me) that the VOA goes beyond fair-and-balanced -and- actually sounds like it is apologizing for BEING "The Voice of America" ! I listen to Deutsche Wella (DW) to hear News from Germany with a German and European 'perspective'. http://www.dw-world.de/ I listen to "Radio Habana Cuba {RHC} to hear the News from Castro's Cuba with a Communist and Anti-America 'perspective'. http://www.radiohc.cu/ingles/portada.htm - - - Include Radio China Radio International (CRI) and The Voice of {North} Korea to this 'perspective'. http://en.chinabroadcast.cn/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_of_Korea I listen to "The BBC" to hear News from "The UK" with an English and America's Closest Allie 'perspective'. http://www.bbcworld.com/ http://news.bbc.co.uk/ - - - Down this list are Radio Canada International (RCI); Radio Australia (ABC) and Radio New Zealand (RNZ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Canada_International http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Australia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_New_Zealand I listen to Radio Japan (NHK World) to hear News from Japan and Asia with a far-side of the Pacific 'perspective'. http://www.nhk.or.jp/english/ - - - Include Radio Taiwan; Radio {South} Korea and the Radio Philippines to this 'perspective'. http://english.rti.org.tw/ http://rki.kbs.co.kr/english/index.htm http://www.pbs.gov.ph/linkoverseas.htm FINALLY - I Listen To The Voice of America (VOA) To Hear : What We Americans Are Saying About Ourselves To The World ! http://www.voanews.com/english/portal.cfm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VOA yes it is that simple ~ RHF . . . . Hmm yes i can and do listen to CRI without having the urge to throw the radio out of the window.VOA is soooo blatant in its properganda its not funny you dont see this on CRI i couldent speak about radio havana because unfortunately they dont broadcast here (although i would be happy if there is link to listen to it online). Voice of korea is so blatant its funny, its even got a cult following of sorts amongst people who dont support DRPK, but listen to it because its so overtop and oversold its hard to take seriously and is actually entertaining.Ive listen to a little of the radio from south korea, its ok and radio japan is good to at times it can be a little too fluffy for my liking. BBC world service is top shelf i listen to that EVERY DAY ditto DW radio. I must listen to radio phillipines one day its seems a little elusive. ![]() |

I would imagine if you ingested enough written reports from any source they would give you a serious case of indigestion. I was listening to it and it was NOTHING BUT PROPERGANDA all the time, other than the sports section. Just what exactly is Propaganda (not properganda). It was sport and then "how the spread of democracy is help fighting the war on terror" or some such **** i promptly turn the dial, it makes me want to throw the radio out of the window. There programs make a mockery of there slogan on there site "a trusted source of news" it has got worse since bush has come to power. Which news sources give just news that is completely free of bias. I have yet to find a news source that isn't biased because of the country the broadcaster originates from. Our view of the world is influenced by our country of origin. It is so bad that the radio station in Australia (ABC newsradio) that mainly takes programs from overseas sources (i.e DW radio,RNW etc etc)doesnt take ANY VOA programs its main american radio program is sourced from NPR.
