Two good DX buddies of mine have the ALA 1530 and I have the DX 1.
I think (biased) that my DX 1 has the edge, but note it must be carefully mounted according to the instructions. See my review at: http://www.dxing.info/equipment/dx1pro.dx However, the ALA 1530 is much more flexible in it's use. It can be casually mounted in your apartment room without fuss, or in your loft and still give good results. Of course it will perform even better if mounted high outside on a rotator. The rotator is necessary as it is directional on the lower frequencies. Other DX friends have upgraded from the ALA 1530 to the ALA 100 and claim better results still. -- John Plimmer, Montagu, Western Cape Province, South Africa South 33 d 47 m 32 s, East 20 d 07 m 32 s RX Icom IC-756 PRO III with MW mods Drake SW8 & ERGO software Sony 7600D GE SRIII BW XCR 30, Braun T1000, Sangean 818 & 803A.
