Default Antenex 900mhz base/repeater antenna NIB

Heh, Antenex ... stay away from Antenex crap. I purchased 3 mobile
antennas, a VHF base loaded BB1443 , a UHF center loaded BB4303, a Dual Band
CB144/440C about 1-1/2 years ago. I purchased them all on the same day so
they all have seen the same amount of use and weather. 4 months after the
purchase, the CB144/440C antenna died. The something in the coil failed.
While in communications with Antennex ( read below ) the UHF antenna failed.
It seems that you need to locktite the set screws in place due to the tap
drill being too big causing a whole lot of slop in the set screw holes....
the set screws rattled out and I lost the whip. Finally, 3 months ago, the
VHF antenna finally failed. The plastic housing around the base coil cracked
from end to end.

Now keep in mind, I do not remove these antennas, nor do I go whacking them
into trees and bridges and stuff.

After I the Dual band antenna failed, I e-mailed Antennex about the problem
with a polite message inquiring about if anything can be done to remedy this
issue of a dead coil. I received back a very unprofessional e-mail, not even
signed from someone from Antenex customer support basically telling me I
need to buy a new antenna. I e-mailed the president, VP and a few others
within the company - 2 weeks later, someone replys to the e-mail saying
sorry for the issue with the customer service person. But no mention to my
problem with the CB144/440C antenna. By now the second antenna failed. I
e-mailed to the person who e-mailed back to me which was the VP, he never
responded back.

Since Antenex supplies the government and the military with antennas, I can
just imagine the failure rate with the abuse the military dishes out. Then
again, its only our tax dollars being spent on garbage.

Not knocking this base / repeater antenna, MAYBE Antenex puts a little
better quality into them ... but definitely Antenex mobile antenas - STAY
AWAY FROM THEM, its just a waste of money. Heck, I have an MFJ dual band
antenna, been whacked, bent, and abused.... a 10+ year old $20 NMO antenna,
and yet its still working.... while the $40 - $50 antennas are all dead.

Well I appreciate your "expert" opinions.
So next time I see you post an item I'll be sure to give my opinions of your
gear in return.

anyways.

And he is right...ANTENEX is complete garbage! Overpriced poorly performing
junk for Governments that don't know any better. They will buy ANYTHING

Boy, Porgy is a real A-HOLE today. The original poster used "FS" in his
header, which is proper protocol and it is certainly antenna and ham
radio related. What's you problem pal, did you sit on an antenna the
wrong way this morning?

The problem is that an "FS" posting in r.r.a.a
violates the netnews guidelines at:

http://www.faqs.org/faqs/radio/personal-intro/

The only appropriate newsgroup for "FS" postings,
according to the guidelines, is:

rec.radio.swap

For sale postings are considered spam by a lot
of the readers of this newsgroup.
