A little off topic but I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up on a broker
named Michael Landa of Landa and Associates. He runs several websites selling surplus towers and other transmission line equipment from the Seattle and Bothell Washington area. We ordered and paid $10k for a used 460' Rohn 80 tower that was in "good condition", and what we got was a 20 year old bent up junk. This guy is a Rohn dealer and if you cannot trust a dealer who can you
trust? We were promised a thorough inspection and never got one, we didn't even get a Rohn 80 or 460' of tower or anything else we paid for. This is fraud and larceny and we just want everyone to know this guy is out there waiting for some other trusting sole to send him money. We did a usenet search before sending any money which turned up nothing derogatory, his ebay rating is very good, he is even a fellow HAM, but these factors were not enough. Rohn Tower Company has taken this website issue you mentioned to thier attorney, that is yet another story but one that I cannot say anything else about yet. Thanks for the good luck wishes, we are gonna need it... Tom KB5PGH "Nomen Nescio" wrote in message ... In article m "Ultanium" wrote: Does he work with/for Rohn Towers? Is he Rohn Towers? If not, how is he able to use a domain name that clearly is a company? This could be a course for legal action alone in that he is slandering the good name of Rohn Towers. Obviously there was not a "meeting of the minds" on what he/you considered good tower and the pictures or the description does not indicate the condition of what you are showing as your received material. Problem is, this is one more incident of scam on eBay for which we have read over the past few months. Good luck. |

Sorry to hear you got ripped...
Still it seems to me you saw a great deal coming your way and suffered the consequences of greed. I recognised several red flags in your telling of the tale that made me suspicious. That tower looks awful but it is used. Towers not only get taken down they sometimes come down very fast. How much would it have cost you to inspect it firsthand? $200 $300 for airfare. $10K is a lot of money for used stuff sight unseen.
