Boy! does that bring back some shocking memories!

My wife and I married in 1961. Our "home" was a 23 ft. all aluminum
trailer. I had gotten rid of all my electronics and radio stuff
several years before. I had built a 3 tube regenerative receiver with
plug in coils, but was not very satisfactory.

Somewhere I found an EC-1 for a very cheap price and found the money
to buy it. I ran a wire out the back window and upinto a tree for an
antenna. The receiver worked quite well. Late one afternoon, I was
lounging on the bed, leaning against the trailer wall (aluminum) and
listening to the radio. Being a lazy sort, I decided to move the dial
with my big toe. I also made contact with the metal radio case!!!!
Wow! what a jolt!

Yes,the chassis proper is insulated from the cabinet. However, there
is a fairly large capacitor connecting the chassis to the metal
cabinet. A small amount of AC passes to the cabinet. Not enough to
kill you, but sure enough to make you remember not to want to complete
the circuit again.

Good luck with your sale.
