Dear Bill,

I am so sorry you've gotten stung. So far, I've only had one
fraudulent eBay transaction and I came whole in that one. I bought an
ICF-2010 that arrived DOA. I contacted the seller who promised to send
insurance information for me to file a claim, and rather than that, the
seller disappeared.

Luckily I was able to disassemble the ICF-2010 clean it up and it
worked. In fact, I'm listening to it right now four years after I
bought it.

It taught me some lessons. I limit my eBay purchases to amounts I
would feel "comfortable" losing to a thief. I pay by Paypal (added
security) or personal check (stoppable) or credit card (stoppable). I
never pay by bank money order or postal money order.

Also, I stick to the eBay rules. Then I might have eBay's help. If
this auction didn't have a "Buy It Now" option up front, I don't think
you can get one instigated after the bidding has started, even if the
reserve is not met.

By the way, in my fraud, I contacted eBay and they were useless.

Be careful with this guy. There's no reason to believe his picture is
real. He could have stolen that off of the internet. He knows your
address. Just be careful.

I sure hope you get your money back. Thanks for sharing everything on
your page. I read it top to bottom.

One additional thing on buying ham equipment from eBay that makes sense
to me. Cross check the seller's call and address on QRZ before
bidding. It is at least one check on his/her honesty.

Wow, I feel lucky. I was bidding on his Amp Supply LK500 and lost to a
snipper in the last 2 seconds. I am sorry to here that you are going
through this. It could have been me with you.
